Maharao in quarter-finals

PUNE, SEPT 30: Unseeded Rohit Maharao of Pune shocked sixth seed Aniket Bendre of Thane 16-21, 21-16, 21-17, 23-21 to march into the quarter-finals of the junior boys' singles of the Rupee Bank State Ranking table tennis championship here today.

Top seed Nachiket Joshi (Pune), second seed Swapnil Namjoshi (Thane), fourth seed Ankur Mahajan (Mumbai Suburb), fifth seed Nimesh Patankar (Pune) and eighth seed Ashutosh Dhagamwar (Nagpur) have also moved into the last eight.

In the girls' section, unseeded Mansi Bhagwat of Thane stunned seventh seed Mansi Shevale of Pune in three games 16-21, 21-13, 21-16 to advance into the second round in the junior girls singles.

Second seed Janhavi Deshpande (Mumbai Suburb), third seed Deepali Zaveri (Thane), fifth seed Chandani Asher (Mumbai Suburb), sixth seed Aditi Jaganathan (Thane) and ninth seed Neha Sidhaye (Pune) also entered the second round.
