The Magic Cake

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
Once when I went to my friend Divya's birthday party, I ate a huge piece of cake. Mind you, I don't really like cakes nor do I eat them but Divya wouldn't take no for an answer. When the party ended I came home and started yawning -- I felt very, very sleepy. So yawning, I went to my room and flopped onto my bed and fell fast asleep.

Now a strange thing happened to me while I slept. I became a little shorter, than a little more, but I was not very short so mummy did not feel scared looking at me. The next day I did not get up for school, so mummy called up my friend Anushka. She asked Anushka's mother: ``Did Anushka go to school today?'' Her mother said no. So mummy thought it was a holiday and went out.

Thereafter some hours later I got a little shorter. Oh no! I was shorter than a mouse now. I got up and went into a mouse hole. Thank god that Mrs Mouse coming back with a piece of cheese. I ran back towards the opening I had entered from. I squeezed myself out of this small mouse hole.

As I walked out I smelt something very horrible. I held my breath and looked around. There was a fairy standing there. I quickly ran to her and asked her to make me my own size again. She smiled and zoom I was once again my real size. I walked back home where mummy was waiting for me. Mummy then told me that Divya's cake had a sprinkling of sleeping powder. And sleeping powder sometimes makes you dream impossible dreams. ``Did you have a nice dream?'' she asked me and I said ``yes, a most marvelous one''.
