Kakkar, Rakhi emerge best

NEW DELHI, September 30: St Stephen's College and Hindu College won the women's and men's titles in the Delhi University inter-college aquatic championship which concluded at the Punjabi Bagh Club Pool.

St Stephen's College retained the aquatic championship in women's section with 98 points. They were followed by Lady Sri Ram College (37). Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education & Sports Sciences were declared third with 22 points.

Sandeep Kakkar helped Hindu College regain the men's championship with 50 points, followed closely by St. Stephen's College (52). Atma Ram Sanatan Dharam College were third with 22 points.

Rakhi Mehra, a first-year student of St. Stephen's College was declared the best women swimmer with 55 points. She won gold in 50m free style, 100m breast stroke, 100m butterfly, 800m freestyle, 200m butterfly, 200m individual medley, 400m individual medley, 200m breast stroke and Silver in 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 200m back stroke and 400m freestyle.

Sandeep Kakkar was adjudged the best mal swimmer with 56 points. Sandeep got first place in 50m freestyle, 100m butterfly, 200m individual medley, 400m individual medlay, 400m freestyle and 400m butterfly.

The LSR quartet of Sneh Wadhwaney, Siphti, Priya and Poorva Mehra set the pool ablaze with a record-breaking effort in 4x100m freestyle relay. The foursome clocked 5:30.94 by erasing the 5:55.11 set by Motilal Nehru College (1995).

ARSD College won the water-polo final, when they outplayed MLN College 6-4.

Hiteshi Wadhwe, Vijay Anand and Joginder Tokas (2 goals each) were the scorers for the winners while Mohit scored two goals for MLN College. St Stephen's College finished third.
