Reward for information
The home department has announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for providing information about two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants who had gunned down a security man and injured the cashier of Videocon company in Bharuch on September 5. The identity of the informer will be kept a secret.

16 arrested
The vigilance squad of Gujarat police on Tuesday raided a house in Sardarnagar and arrested 16 persons for gambling and recovered Rs 32,734 and gambling equipment from them. Those arrested included the owner of the house Sheru Mohanlal Nagdev. Police also arrested 23 persons with 97 litres of illicit country-made liquor and nabbed five persons involved in gambling from other parts of the city.

Succumbs
A person who was hit on the head with an iron pipe after an altercation over filling drinking water in Meghani Nagar, succumbed to his injuries in Civil Hospital on Tuesday. Police said that on Monday one Subhash Jagdish Chandra Soni, had a verbal altercation with one Ratilal Rameshwar Prajapati of the same locality over fetching water from a hand pump. In the evening when Subhash's brother Kanji learnt about the quarrel, he went to Ratilal's house and asked him not to trouble his brother. The next day Ratilal, Banawrilal and his son Rotash again quarreled with Kanji when Ratilal hit Kanji on the head with an iron road. Kanji was admitted to Civil Hospital with severe head injury and a case was registered. Police have arrested the accused and registered a case of murder against them.

ACB trap
Sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau trapped a senior clerk of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) octroi department while accepting a bribe of Rs 20. According to officials, the accused Ramesh Ranchhodbhai Patel had demanded money from an autorickshaw driver for allowing him to take television set inside the municipal limits.

Stolen
Equipment and instrument, worth Rs 60,000, used by doctors were stolen from a Maruti car at Mini Shopping Centre, near on Tuesday. Police said miscreant broke open the car and made away with the bag.
