Govt still open to Tata airline proposal: Kumar

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
NEW DELHI, OCT 4: Civil Aviation Minister Ananth Kumar has said his ministry would "examine and decide" even at this stage if the Tatas came up with proposals for floating an airline and the Bangalore international airport.

He told a private television channel that the government had an "open mind" on the Tata airline proposal, and that the Civil Aviation Ministry had given the green signal "in principle" to the Bangalore airport project.

On whether another private airline had lobbied against the Tata proposal, he said,"I don't know about the corporate war". "I told them (Tatas) we require four more weeks to examine the entire thing in detail, because there were memoranda from more than 60 MPs from various parties," Kumar was quoted as saying in a release issued by the channel.
