National Cricket Club emerge masters of the maidan

MUMBAI, Oct 4: National Cricket Club regained the supremacy of maidan cricket after a lapse of a year when winning the Kanga League Division I title, today.

In an exciting final game they beat a fighting Victory by three wickets with junior Pushkaraj Jadhav scoring a bold winning hit of four runs.Defending champions MIG ended up in the cellar after a draw with Young Friends, while Cricket Club of India, who were also in the title hunt, suffered an unexpected loss to National's sister team M B Union on their homeground.

P J Hindu Gymkhana, who drew with Karnatak Sporting Association, are the joint leaders in Division II with Shivaji Park Gymkhana, both having eight points each.

Fine medium pace bowling by Mahendra Pandey (7 for 11) helped United Cricketers to beat Dahisar by 52 runs at Cross maidan.

In Division III, Worli and Rajashtan are heading the table with seven points each.

All the matches at Shivaji Park and Kennedy Sea Face were washed out without a ball being bowled as overnight rainrendered the ground conditions unplayable, while all other matches began after lunch.
