Sena-sponsored Aurangabad bandh peaceful

AURANGABAD, OCT 4: The Shiv Sena-sponsored one-day bandh called to protest against the arrest of Somnath Rana, writer of the controversial book Jahannum Me Jayenge Kaun - Hindu Ya Ahindu, passed of peacefully without any incidents of violence as feared earlier.

With the market here remaining closed on Sunday, the direct response to the bandh call could not be gauged. However, shops in the dominant Muslim localities of Shahgunj and city chowk, carried on business as usual.

Transport services in the city too functioned normally. Rana was released from custody and security around him has been tightened, police said.
