Maharashtra revises pay of 20 lakh employees
The Maharashtra government has finally decided to implement the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission for an estimated 20 lakh employees with retrospective effect from January 1, 1996. The alliance government will have to bear an additional burden of Rs 3,000 crore annually owing to the hike in the wages.
