BANGALORE, OCT 6: Actor-producer Sanjay Khan today vehemently denied the power theft charge against him and attacked the state-run Karnataka Electricity Board (KEB) for ``maligning'' his name and reputation.Khan today brushed aside the allegation of the vigilance cell of the KEB that he and three others had tapped power illegally for a resort being constructed by them near Nelamangala on the city's outskirts.
He said: ``Sanjay Khan has a brand name. It (charge) is to give me a bad name. It looks like a conspiracy by vested interests''. ``Why should I stoop to that level,'' Khan asked, accusing the KEB of acting on the basis of an erroneous report by its lower staff.
Meanwhile, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Khan and three others in a jurisdictional court for the alleged power theft.
According to KEB officials, the lines had been tapped from the service main line at four places instead of drawing power from the meter board.
On another front, Khan has taken a swipe at writerShobha De for her remarks against him in her latest book ``Selective Memories'', saying they were offensive and totally baseless.
``There is not even an iota of truth,'' Khan said at the venue of his health park project and resort.
He severely criticised her for ``not even sparing the dead'' referring to her comments on the late Sanjeev Kumar.
Responding to queries, Khan announced his plans to produce two films ``Maryada Purushottama'' and ``Taj''. He said his serial ``Jai Hanuman'' being telecast by Doordarshan has got an extension of another 52 episodes.
