AHMEDABAD, Oct 10: The $5000 ITF's women's circuit opens at AGETA Courts here on Monday. The qualifying rounds for this October 12-17 tourney, which were rescheduled due to lack of entries, will now be held tomorrow.The organisers are expecting entries to arrive by early tomorrow to fill the four qualifying spots. In the draw of 32 players, 25 have directly qualified for the main draw, four will be for qualifiers and three wild cards.
The biggest draw for the event is Patty Murren of USA, who is one of the six foreign players participating in the tournament. Murren is ranked 651 on the Women's Tennis Association's ranking list. Other foreign players include three from Thailand and one each from Russia and Canada. The second biggest name in the main draw is India's Archana Venkataraman ranked 660th.
Ahmedabad is organising the first of this three-leg event. The second leg takes place at Pune from October 19 to 24 while the last leg is at Indore from October 26 to 31.
