Foreign attraction for athletic meet

NEW DELHI, Oct 10: Discus throwers Vitali Sidorov of Ukraine and Ludmila Filimonova of Belarus could be the star attractions in the Raja Bhalendra Singh International athletic meet at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Monday.

On the track the focus, apart from India's own PT Usha, could be on Natalia Safronnikova of Belrus (22.86s for 200m) and Irena Pucha of Ukraine (11.39s for 100m). About 30 athletes from seven countries have already arrived in the Capital for the one-day meet.

The Indian contingent of 75 athletes will include all Asian Games probables and some local athletes, too. The meet will begin at 3.40 pm and and will conclude at 7.45 pm.
