BJP dumps Sahib, brings in Sushma
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) yesterday announced that Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma had stepped down and Union Minister Sushma Swaraj would be the new CM. She will be sworn in today.

In its desperate gamble, the BJP wants to play safe. So Sahib Singh Verma is not to be inducted into the Union Cabinet for now, nor are Sushma Swaraj's portfolios, Communications and Information & Broadcasting, to be filled until after the November Assembly elections.
Don't steal, buy power, State told
Union Power Minister P R Kumarmangalam supported Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde's stand against free power to farmers in Maharashtra yesterday, asserting that State governments could never supply free power to any sector without making budgetary provision or giving subsidy to electricity boards.
