NEW DELHI, October 11: Chief Minister's Delhi Blues XI became first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the all-India Football Tournament for the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Cup when they came from behind to beat Central Railway, Mumbai 2-1 in a Pool A quarterfinal match at Ambedkar Stadium here today. The teams were locked 1-1 at the end of the first half.Delhi Blues have collected six points from two matches and will play their last league match against ITI Bangalore tomorrow. Central Railway inside-left Asif Jamal put his side ahead in the 18th minute, surprising custodian Bishwanath Deb. Delhi mid-fielder Dinesh worked hard and sent a well-measured pass to Shyam Kumar who shot towards the Railways goal. But custodian R. Khanolkar fumbled with the ball as Delhi captain Bhupinder Thakur quickly pounced on the chance to draw level in the 41st minute.The match-winner came in the 61st minute. Mohd. Mobin sent a fine centre on which inside-left Hatinder Singh Rawat made no mistake with just five minutesremaining.
State Bank of Travancore outclassed Border Security Force 2-0 to earn full points in Pool B in their quarter-final league match.
Nepal in semis
GANGTOK: Nepal entered the semi-finals of the 20th all-India Governor's Gold Cup Football Tournament thrashing Bhutan 5-1 at the Paljor Stadium here. Naresh Joshi scored twice for the Nepal side, while the remaining three goals were shared by substitute Sukra Tamang, Hari Khadka and Kumar Thapa. Harka Thapa scored the face saver for the losers.
Camp for probables
CALCUTTA: East Bengal's creative midfielder Basudeb Mondal failed to find a place in the list of probables for the national football camp to be held at Bangalore from October 16. The All India Football Federation today announced a list of 31 probables for the camp to be supervised by the national coach Syed Nayeemuddin. The coach expects the camp to run for over two weeks.
A list of 40 probables was drawn for the women football's national camp, due to start atPatiala from October 16. The camp is a part of the preparation for the Asian Games.
