CHENNAI, Oct 11: A senior Tamizhaga Rajiv Congress leader, who had come to receive Union Petroleum Minister and TRC president Vazhapadi K Ramamurthy last night at the domestic airport in the city, created a flutter when he pushed his way into the airport lounge in an inebriated condition.According to party sources, V Rajasekaran, TRC general secretary, apparently upset with reports that his leader Vazhapadi Ramamurthy may be stripped of his petroleum portfolio, had appeared at the airport in a drunken state and pushed his way past the security to enter the airport lounge.
At about 10.30 pm, an altercation is said to have taken place between Rajasekaran and the security personnel with the latter refusing to let the 40-odd TRC men into the airport lounge.
Rajasekaran reportedly shoved the policemen out of his way, smashed the glass doors and stormed inside. Even as the policemen tried to stop him, he is said to have removed his dhoti and run inside the airport lounge. The sight of the politician, with hisbleeding hands and blood-soaked shirt, sans dhoti, running towards the elevators, unnerved passengers.
AIADMK MP Panneerselvan was heard shouting to the security personnel to control the TRC leader, who was finally dragged out.
The airport police have registered a case against Rajasekaran.
