VADODARA, Oct 11: Senior Congress leader and former Union minister for sports Margaret Alva is optimistic about her party sweeping the assembly polls in Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Mizoram.Talking to Express Newsline here on Sunday morning, she claimed there were no doubts about the Congress winning the forthcoming elections because the electorate, having elected the BJP, was realising the ``difference''. ``Look at the onion prices in the country and law and order situation in several states,'' she said.
``The Congress is also more strengthened today, specially after Sonia Gandhi took over. And following the Panchmarhi convention, the morale of the party workers is high. Ethics, honesty and morals are being given maximum respect by the leadership,'' she said, adding that the Congress, thus, stood out as the ``cleanest'' party in the country.
Code of ethics and declaration of assets of party members would now be examined very carefully, she added.
According to Alva, the change in the chief ministership in Delhi on Saturday indicated that the ``danger bells have begun to ring within the BJP,'' and that the BJP too had realised the ``threat''.
About the new leadership, she insisted that Gandhi's command had only done the party good, especially for woman workers. ``The representation of women in the party and the seats will increase in days to come,'' she said.
