VADODARA, Oct 11: About 12 lakh pregnant women in the State are anaemic, while three lakh of them are severely affected. This was concluded at the two-day workshop, organised by the Baroda Citizens Council and the WOHTARC of the Women Studies Research Centre of the MSU recently. According to Kanani of Foods and Nutrition, good nutrition was essential for mother's and child's health.Education about good health and the prevention of malnutrition was possible only if the government health authorities and NGOs participated in the awareness programme, Kanani added.
Apart from Kanani, Ghasura of family welfare, chaired a panel discussion on improving training on health and nutrition education and supervision of reproductive and child health programme.
The workshop was inaugurated by Deputy Municipal Commissioner I B Peerzada. J B Shah, Deputy Director of Health Services, Dr Shirish Patel, Medical Officer of Health, and P V Kotecha, associate professor of SSG hospital, were also present.
