NEW DELHI, October 11: Three unidentified armed robbers struck at a retired Colonel's C.R. Park house tonight where a party was in progress to celebrate his homecoming after surgery at Apollo Hospital. Amongst the guests was a retired Major General and other noted rank holders in the Army.The intruders threatened guests with a revolver and two knives and reportedly took off the jewellery of the women present in the house. One of the assailants fired in the air and demanded that Col R.P. Singh's wife hand over all the cash in the house.
Santosh Singh told Express Newsline, ``After they fired, I panicked. I opened my locker and threw all the bundles of cash at them. I removed my jewellery and handed that over as well''.
The police said that the assailants had entered the house through the front door. DCP (South) Pradeep Srivasatav said, ``The domestic help had left the door open when he went out to get cold drinks for the guests. The intruders walked into the house through the main door and walked out with cash amounting to about Rs 60,000 with them''.
Even as the assailants were ransacking the house, the domestic help returned. The intruders hit him on the head with the butt of a revolver. A case of robbery has been registered at the C.R Park police station.
