No onion on Capital's Mother Dairy shelves
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, October 11: Onion was not available at the Mother Diary outlets today. And the crowds at the mobile govt vans continued to be so unmanageable that several customers have sworn to vote against the BJP in the assembly elections. Grocers at Paharganj, Patparganj, Khan Market, Rohini and other areas are still selling onion for Rs 40-Rs 48 per kg. They say the supply is still far short of demand; the government explains onion traders are in league with hoarders. In Azadpur on Saturday, onion was traded for Rs 28-Rs 30 per kg, higher than yesterday's rates. The difference is: an average of 45 trucks reached the market on Friday, only 26 arrived on Saturday. Copyright © 1998 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
