Police need to keep up with times
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
GURGAON, October 11: The police force in Haryana will have to adapt itself to the fast changing scenario. The police will have to be more vigilant and should have better co-ordination with their counterparts in the neighbouring states.'' Stating this, the director-general of Haryana police, S.K. Sethi, said that he admitted that the police requires better material support to tackle the increasing crime but, ``ultimately it is the men behind the machines that matter''.Speaking at the inauguration of houses for the police officials, Sethi exhorted the officers to pull up their socks to meet any challenge posed by the criminals. ``It is like a battle between the criminals and the police. Only those will get a upper hand who will adapt themselves according to the situation,'' the DGP said. He announced that the Haryana police was laying emphasis on augmenting its manpower, communication and transport network. ``Very soon we will have a separate emergency communication channel at every district headquarter and major cities. Besides, specialised task forces are being set up to deal with emergent rescue missions. These commando units are being trained at Nawal in Karnal,'' he added.
