MUMBAI, October 12: Mithibai College beat Sathaye College, 2-0, to win the rain-shortened Inter-Collegiate volleyball tournament final at the University Sports Pavilion today. The scoreline read 15-13, 15-5 in favour of Mithibai in the best of three games final.In the third place play-off, St Andrew's drubbed Bhavan's 3-0 (15-4, 15-4, 15-8).
It was a double blow for Sathaye when they lost the women's final too. R A Podar rallied superbly to beat the Vile Parle girls 3-2 (4-15, 15-11, 9-15, 15-10, 15-1).
Mulund College of Commerce finished third defeating St Xavier's 3-0 (15-9, 15-9, 17-15) in a tense hardline encounter.
SALDANHA 'TRICKS: A fine hat-trick by Dennis Saldanha saw Village Amboli stunned Tata Electric 3-0 in a MDFA Harwood League football match at the St Xavier's Ground, Parel today.
Saldanha put Amboli in the lead after cutting through the Tata defence and taking a shot fom the top of the box. He struck again in the 29th minute to put the Tata team on the defensive. Saldanhacompleted the margin and his hat-trick, a minute before half-time, thanks to a pass by Chandu Varodia.

Div III A: Salvation Parish (Dadar) 2 (Rolland Lobo, Sabby Alfanso) bt Worli Sports Club 1 (Timothy Fernandes); Young Dynamos and Sonata failed to turn up for their matches against MTNL and Striker Boys respectively.
ST JOSEPH's WIN: ST Joseph's won the Kalyan Rink football tournament defeating St Roque 3-0 in the final played at Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Kalyan today.
For the winners, Raju scored a brace while Saby completed the rout. In the hard-liners, Masoba Madian drubbed Rambaug 3-0. Rosario Antao, Kelvin D'Souza and Agnelo Mirababa scored a goal each.
RASHI, AVINASH TRUIMPH: Rashi Oberoi of Otters won the individual championship in the girls Under-15 category with 19 point while Gayatri Dhumatkar of Khar Gymkhana was second with 17 at the Weekender Invitational Swimming meet organised by Sports Promotion team and Khar Gymkhana.
In the boysunder-15 category, Avinash Kriplani of Khar Gymkhana won the championship with 21 points while Sidant Nagrani was second with 17 points.
