Thevar party formation by month-end

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHENNAI, OCT 13: The All India Thevar Pervai has announced formation of a new political party `Moovendar Munnetra Kazhagam' to fight for their rights. A 24-hour rally would be organised on Oct 29 in Madurai and a call has been given to all the Thevar organisations to come under one roof.

Peravai president N Sethuraman told mediapersons in Chennai on Monday that Thevars were always targeted by the other communities and the Government should deal firmly with the extremists. He claimed that there were extremists in Thevar and other communities and the Government should deal them with an iron hand.

He blamed the AIADMK party for reportedly instigating the Thevars in Ramanathapuram resulting in the clashes. Problems crop up because of aggressive speeches by the leaders of other communities. He also blamed Puthiya Tamilagam leader Krishnasamy for instigating clashes among various communities. ``Wherever Krishnasamy goes, clashes follow'', he said and added that they would form a new political party to fight fortheir rights.

``All the Thevar organisations would now come under a single banner on October 30 and a state-wide conference would be held following the formation of the new political party''.

He claimed that their organisation was not associated with Ramanathapuram clashes and said a person who was dismissed from their party for anti-party activities was involved. ``The Government should remove extremists from all the parties and communities'', he said.

The Government should ensure that the judge to be appointed in Madurai to probe the Ramanathapuram clashes should not belong to Muslim, Adi Dravidar or Thevar communities to ensure an unbiased probe and trial, he said.
