NASHIK, Oct 13: Arrivals at the Lasalgaon wholesale onion marketyard increased today to over 2,000 quintals, an increase of about 500 quintals in the last 24 hours.The new kharif crop, most of it harvested unripe, fetched prices ranging from Rs 400 to Rs 1,962 per quintal. The average price was Rs 1,400 per quintal.
The old stock of Rabi onions harvested about four months ago was in demand, fetching prices ranging from Rs 700 to Rs 3,300 per quintal. Its average price was Rs 3,100 per quintal.
The arrival of the fresh kharif crop, which was in the range of five to ten tractor-trailor loads (each carrying 30 quintals) increased to 15 tractor-trailor loads today. The situation is likely to improve with the arrival of more fresh crop.
