The anti-Kalyan Singh group in the BJP thinks it's a ``deep-rooted conspiracy''. The name of the supreme leader of the Sangh Parivar is already being dragged into the intra-party war between camps led by the Chief Minister and the state party chief, Rajnath Singh.

Allahabad District Magistrate Aloke Tandon in a letter to the Sangh supremo on October 6 has directed him to deposit Rs 7.62 lakh for his leased house at 37, Tashkand Road in Allahabad. The DM has pointed out that the house was Nazul property (state property) and allotted to Rajju Bhaiya. The letter says that the lease expired 40 years ago but Rajju Bhaiya went for illegal construction in the premises violating lease norms.

Tandon has also pointed out that the RSS chief had even rented out a fewportions of the house which was in gross violation of the norms.

The RSS leader had submitted an application for renewal of the lease. The house on the Tashkand road was allotted to him when he was a teacher at the Allahabad university. He lived in the house for several years.

The Kalyan Singh government, however, took a strong objection to the ``misuse'' of the property by opening two schools in its premises and in a letter dated April 1998 directed the DM to deal with the issue. Inquiry by the DM revealed that the two schools -- respectively occupying 487 sqm and 684 sqm out of the total 4526 sqm area -- were illegal. Opening of the schools was a gross violation of lease norms and no permission was sought from the Government for its construction, it was found.

For this violation, the RSS chief will have to deposit a fine of Rs 7.62 lakh plus Rs 3,740 as surcharge and Rs 2,805 as Nazul rent.

After he deposits the amount, the lease will be extended till November 18, 1988 and for further renewal afresh application will be required.

The action against the RSS chief has evoked sharp reactions in the state BJP. ``The RSS chief has already donated all his property to the Sangh Parivar and his name should not be dragged into this. This definitely points to a deep-rooted conspiracy to defame him and the Parivar,'' state BJP chief Rajnath Singh told The Indian Express.

The notice to the Sangh chief is bound to create ripples with the Allahabad administration adamant on not allowing commercial use of the Nazul land which can be used for residential purpose only, and with a section of the state BJP taking up the issue.
