Two drown in district Two persons drowned in different villages of the Mandvi and Vyara talukas of the district, the district police control room said. In both the cases, the youths drowned after they slipped and fell into rivers while bathing, the police added. According to the Mandvi police on Tuesday, one Devji drowned after slipping in the Kholwad creek and was rushed to the Deenbandhu hospital, where he was declared dead on admission. In another case registered at the Vyara police station, one Ramesh Patel, a resident of Ukai village, died after he slipped and fell into the Tapi and died. The District police have registered cases under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.Theft Rs 80,000 worth valuables and cash were stolen from an apartment near Katargam Darwaja during the night hours, a case registered in the Chowk Bazaar police station said. One Mohammed Memon lodged a complaint in the police station stating that gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs 76,000 as well as cash were stolen from his house by unidentified people, who entered his house, located at Mina Apartments, through the window. The police have registered a case and are investigating it. Burglary Burglars broke into a grocer's shop, located on the Ranitalav Main Road during the early hours of Tuesday and decamped with provisions worth Rs 25,000, the Chowk bazaar police said. Kanhaiyya Pipawala, the owner of S M Pipawala stores, lodged a complaint on Tuesday morning stating that his shop was burgled and the miscreants stole goods by breaking open the shutter.
