Bhuvnesh helps Gurgaon win
Two unbeaten knocks from Bhuvnesh Sharma (54 not out) and Sandeep Jakhar (20 not out) helped Gurgaon beat Mahendergarh by eight wickets and enter the semifinal of Haryana inter-district under-19 tournament at Gurgaon. Batting first, Mahendergarh were dismissed for a paltry 78 in 23 overs. Gurgaon replied with 78 for two.

Brief Scores: Mahendergarh: 78 (Tarun 26, Ashok 3 for 19, Sunil Walecha 3 for 28, Tajender Mann 2 for 16). Gurgaon: 78 for 2 (Bhuvnesh Sharma 54 not out, Sandeep Jakhar 20 not out).

Sanjay excels
A fine knock by Sanjay Verma (88 and 2 for 30) helped Collage Group reach in the semifinal of the JD Textiles tournament beating Indian Airlines by eight runs. Sanjay was declared man of the match.

Brief Scores: Collage Group: 194 in 39.5 overs (Sanjay Verma 88, Sanjay Saini 21, Sonu Sharma 4 for 20, Vineet Jain 2 for 21, Virendra Sahwag 2 for 30) bt Indian Airlines: 186 in 40 overs (Shankar Saini 38, Shafiq Khan 48 n.o, Vikram Hastir 37, Sanjay Gill 2 for 28, Sanjay Verma 2 for 30, Mahesh Bati 2 for 28).

Vikas shines
Excellent knock by Vikas Chowdhary (42) helped Central Bank Club beat Pioneer Club by 31 runs in the DDCA league match at Kotla 2. Vikas Chowdhary (42), Bantoo Singh (31) and Udat Bhatia were the main scorers for the winners while Sandeep Sharma (32), Manoj Malhotra (28) and Sunil Sethi (29) contributed for the losers.

Brief Scores: Central Bank: 182 for 7 in 40 overs (Vikas Chowdhary 42, Bantoo Singh 31, Udat Bhatia 29, Tek Chand 20, Usman 3 for 30, Asad 2 for 33) bt Pioneer Club: 151 all out in 28.3 overs (Sandeep Sharma 32, Manoj Malhotra 28, Sunil Sethi 29, Kamal Kishore 3 for 31, Ranbir Singh 3 for 23, BS Rawat 2 for 17).

DSA nominees
The Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) has nominated its two joint secretaries -- N.K. Bhatia and Syed Shaheen -- as the association's representatives on the organising committee of this year's Durand Football Tournament. The tournament will commence at Ambedkar Stadium on October 19, DSA honorary secretary Syed Nasir Ali said.

Match ends in tie
The first match in the five-match series between Sahibabad Senior Cricket Club and Uttrakhand Club ended in a tie.

Softball tourney
In the inaugural match of the second Ishani Makkar memorial inter-school softball tournament, Presentation Convent School B defeated St Xavier's School 16-7 home runs. In another match, Queen Mary's School beat Mater Dei B 17-0. Presentation Convent School A drubbed Mater Dei Convent A 15-2 home runs.
