VADODARA, Oct 14: The Baroda University Teachers Association (BUTA) has demanded that the salary which had been cut for the strike period should be paid to the teachers.The members have said that since they had agreed to cut down on their vacation to make up for the classes the government should now pay the salary for the strike period which was deducted earlier.
General Secretary of the All India Federation of University and College Teachers Association Nikhil Desai said, ``The government has already agreed to pay the salary which was deducted for having gone on strike but the order from the government was still awaited''.
He added that the even if the government reneged on then the Vice Chancellor Anil Kane had guaranteed to pay the salary.
The members have added that the state government as per the resolution were supposed to pay the new scales from November 1. But Desai added that it would mean confusion for those readers and teachers retiring on October 31. Desai also added that the salaries of teaching assistants should be raised to Rs 5,000 as the scales for the permanent teachers have already been revised.
