Four-year-old dies in mishap

SURAT, Oct 15: A four-year-old boy was killed when he was trapped under the wheels of a car near the Majura Gate crossroads on Wednesday night. The Umra police said the unidentified car driver took the boy to a city hospital, but fled after he was declared dead.

Though no arrests have been made, the car's number (GJ 5 PP 8799) has been sent to the Regional Transport Office to trace the driver. PSI G M Pargi told Express Newsline, that Kamlesh Kalubhai Gharwal, residing on the footpath at Majura Gate, was hit at around 10 pm as the driver was reversing the vehicle around 10 pm. He suffered head and body injuries.

Kamlesh's mother Chhanuben Gharwal, has in a complaint on Thursday morning, stated that the driver took him to the Mahavir hospital. However, after doctors declared him dead at around midnight, he escaped.
