NEW DELHI, October 15: A five-and-a-half-year-old boy studying at Guru Harkishan Public School reportedly sustained head injuries after he was allegedly thrashed by his Hindi teacher today for ``talking in the class''.``The wound is about 1 cm deep and 1 inch long'', said the boy's father Irfan Shaikh, a former Zee TV journalist. An FIR has been lodged against the school.
The child's parents have decided not to let the child continue at the school. ``We got Faizan admitted (here) because he was interested in reciting Gurbani. But after this incident and especially after viewing the school's attitude, we are not willing to send him to the same school again'', his father said.
According to him, the school tried to hush up the incident and refused to admit it could have occurred. Attempts to seek the principal's comments failed. Incidentally, the school peon who brought Faizan home half an hour earlier than expected told his mother that Faizan had fallen down while playing and received minor injuries.
