House on fire, 3 hurt

MUMBAI, Oct 22: On the day of Festival of Lights two persons were seriously injured while trying to save two children from a house on fire in Shil village near Mumbai in Thane on Wednesday.

Suraj Wamkhar (15) and Bunty Anant Fate (12) were caught unawares inside Ganga Bharati building when live crackers flew in setting clothes on fire soon engulfing the house at around 7.30 pm. Responding to screams seeking help, Sajan Patil barged into the house between the flames. Meanwhile, Dhanesh Jama Kate (36) had climbed up on to the roof to remove the tiles to gain entry into the house. Both managed to bring the two youths back to safety.Wamkhar, Fate and Patil are being treated for burns.
