PUNE, Oct 22: The Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) has decided to cancel the proposed hike in house tax and appoint a new committee to take a decision. This was decided at the general body meeting held recently. The meeting was called after the elected members submitted a letter withdrawing their allegations against board president and the executive officer.
Board president Brig Mrinal Suman said that although the house tax was revised after thorough discussions, there were certain shortcomings in its implementation which brought additional burden on the people. These shortcomings will be rectified immediately, he added.
The meeting also decided to serve a notice in connection with the alleged unauthorised construction of 1,300 square feet at Bunglow number 35 on Duncan Road. Board member Prakash Hivarkar suggested that the demolition notice should not be served immediately as Diwali festival was approaching. However, Brig Suman ruled out this suggestion.
