Oct 23: The Pakistan cricket team's first full-fledged tour of India in nearly 12 years will go ahead as scheduled early next year, according to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief executive Majid Khan. The PCB is in constant touch with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and it is hoped that the tour would proceed as planned, Khan was quoted as saying by the media here today.
The Pakistani foreign ministry has so far not raised any objections to the tour.
``We have already approached the foreign ministry but have not received any feed-back. This has made us believe that they have no objection to our teams' tour,'' Khan said.
Doubts have been raised about the Pakistani cricket team's tour of India after sudden escalation of tension between the two neighbours following their nuclear tests in may this year.
But the situation has improved over the last five months with the officials of the two countries resuming bilateral talks early this month raising hopes of an improvement inrelations.
Pakistan's last full-fledged tour to India was in 1986-87, when the Imran Khan-led team won the five Test series 1-0. After that Pakistan has twice cancelled tours to India citing security reasons.
There was a break when the Pakistani team played a World Cup match in Bangalore in 1994-95 and then took part in the Independence Cup tournament in India last year.
India also made a reciprocal tour of Pakistan last year when they played three one-day internationals.
