Gamblers held
The city police have arrested Lambi Bansal, a resident of Faridabad, and Karan Pal alias Bitta, a resident of Sector 47 on the charges of gambling at a public place. Separate cases have been registered.

Car hit by truck
Kuldip Singh, a resident of Phase II in SAS Nagar, reported to the police that his car was hit by a mini truck bearing a local registration number driven by Sunil Kumar, a resident of Mandi district on the road dividing Sectors 29 and 31. The police have registered a case.

Assaults reported
Gulab Singh, a resident of the Bapu Dham Colony, complained to the police that he was assaulted by Surjit Singh, a resident of the same colony. While Sunita, a resident of Sector 52, complained to the police that she was assaulted by Naresho and Suresh. In another incident, Suman Sharma, complained to the police that she was assaulted and threatened in her house by Veena Verma and others. The police have registered separate cases.

Hurt in mishaps
Rita Kapur, a resident of Sector 11 in Panchkula, was injured after her scooter reportedly hit a horse cart in Sector 26. She has been admitted to the PGI. While cyclist Amarjit Singh, a resident of Khuda Lahora village, was hit by a truck near his house.

Man ends life
Manjit Lal alias Bittu, 25, a resident of Phase I in Bapu Dham Colony, reportedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide last night. Police sources said that he was taken to the PGI where he died at 9.30 pm. Though, the exact cause of death is known, the deceased had been drinking heavily and was in a state of depression during the past few months, the police added. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.

Clarification
The names of David Bali and Dani Bali, accused of assaulting and threatening Subhash Mahndiratta, in Sector 23, were published incorrectly in the Chandigarh Newsline dated October 21. The error is regretted.
