NEW DELHI, OCT 25: The Union Government is yet to file any affidavit in the Supreme Court regarding the constitutional validity of the controversial Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) ordinance.Non-filing of any affidavit assumes significance as Attorney General Soli Sorabjee last month had sought just 15 days to prepare a detailed note for fine-tuning the ordinance.
The Supreme Court registry was closed for many days due to the festival season and it may be one of the reasons why the affidavit could not be filed, said a counsel associated with the case from the Government side. The matter, which arose during the hearing of over Rs-1000 crore Indian Bank scam, would come up for hearing on October 28.
``I have looked into the matter and have certain views for the fine-tuning of the ordinance which, if, accepted would take care of many of the grievances,'' Sorabjee had submitted before a three-judge Bench headed by Justice S P Bharucha.
The Attorney General, who has gone abroad on some work, could notbe contacted for his views regarding non-filing of the affidavit.
