Nine players suspendedHYDERABAD: In an unprecedented move, Andhra Pradesh Football Association (APFA) suspended nine players and the Hyderabad Sporting Club secretary Syed Yousuf Kamal for two years for ``manhandling'' the referee in a Rahim League match last evening.
The nine players who were instigated by the club secretary-cum-coach Syed Yousuf Kamal, when Ghouse was shown a yellow card by referee Syed Ghalib for dangerous play, 10 minutes before the long whistle against Rayalaseema Tigers as both the team locked one all.

AMBALAMEDU: Top seed Arup Basak (HPCL) and unseeded Anindita Chakraborthy (RSCB) won the men's and women's singles titles of 19th Dr P K Narayanaswamy Memorial All-India Table Tennis Tournament.
Basak beat an injured S Raman (Indian Oil) 21-13, 21-11, 21-13, while Anindita overcame Mouma Das (Bengal) 21-14, 22-20, 20-22, 17-21, 21-15.Subhajit Saha (Sr) beat Anirban Nandi 21-19, 21-14, 21-13 and Poulami Ghatak, defeated Nandita Saha 21-14, 21-14, 8-21,21-12 for the junior titles.

BAHARAMPORE: Jagannath Saha of Baharampore Swimming Club today took the top spot in swimming 81 km in the Bhagirathi River, the longest distance swimming competition in the world, organised in its 55th year by the Murshidabad Swimming Association.
Among 14 swimmers in the category, Saha clocked 10 hours, 45 minutes, 26 seconds, followed by Subir Sarkar of the West Bengal Police and Bhujarat Mollah.
