Eight held for rioting
The police arrested eight people from Shinde Chawl of Navapura area on Sunday morning on the charges of rioting and injuring three people, who have been admitted to SSG Hospital. According to the police, the accused objected to the parking of a bicycle by their neighbours, which led to a verbal duel between the two groups and later assaulting each other with empty bottles, which resulted in serious head injuries to three people of the other group. Cases have been filed in the Navapura police station by both the groups.

Houses gutted
Two houses in Bhadarwah village of Sanvli taluka of the district were gutted in a fire that broke out on Sunday afternoon. According to fire brigade sources, house-hold items were burnt leading to an loss of Rs 50,000. Cause of the incident, however, could not be ascertained immediately.
