ONGC sponsors project for tribal women

VADODARA, Oct 25: Committed to sharing its success for the overall development of the society, the ONGC, as part of its socio-economic programme, has sponsored a project on `Skill Training and Income Generating Activities in Bead Works and Cane Works' for tribal women in Chottaudepur. It would be conducted by the Shroffs Foundation Trust, a NGO working for the tribal and rural communities.

The project will benefit nearly 30 women who would be trained for six months and enable them to become economically independent. The Mahila Samiti of ONGC will be actively involved in the craft works project.

VIPASANA DISCOURSE: A VIPASANA discourse by Dr Raman Khosla was held at ONGC's Officers' Club recently. Dr Khosla, a specialist in Neuropsychology, spoke on length about the efficacy of Vipasana Meditation, a scientific technique of channelising one's energies in a positive manner.

He stressed upon the fact that Vipasana empowers the individual to see the things as they really are. A K Mandal, General Manager (Operations) and J B Bhaya, General Manager (P&A) along with a large number of employees attended the discourse.

Bhaya, in his welcome speech, said that competition, insecurity, frustrations, health problems were a part of modern living, while Vipasana meditation enabled the discharge of one's duties without these negative disturbances and helped in leading a tranquil life.

As per the directives of Jauhari Lal, Director (Personnel), special training programmes have been scheduled throughout the year to enable the ONGC employees to attend the 10-day Vipasana course being conducted at various places in the country.

Diwali celebrations: Diwali was celebrated with great pomp and festivity in the ONGC Colony. As part of the celebrations, a musical entertainment programme by a local orchestra group was organised at the ONGC Officer's Club. A firecracker display was also organised which turned the night sky into a canvas of star-studded sparkles, show was greatly enjoyed by the children as well as elders.
