Youth killed in mishap
A 19-year-old youth was killed during the early hours of Sunday when the autorickshaw, that he was driving, was hit by an unidentified vehicle in the city, a case registered in the Umra police station said. Ravindra Shivaji Mahajan was killed on the spot when his autorickshaw (GJ 5 U 7331) was hit by a vehicle, near Chamunda Hotel on the Ring Road. The Umra police have registered a case under sections of the Indian Penal Code as well as the Motor Vehicle Act.

Theft
A man lodged a complaint in the Umra police station of the city, stating that his watchman had escaped with cash and valuables worth Rs 1.10 lakhs. According to the complaint lodged by Ashok Jain, a resident of Maskati Plot no 17 at Athwa Lines, one Shyambhahadur Gurkha and his wife Rama stole Rs 25,000 in cash and gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 80,000 along with expensive clothes and escaped during the night. The complainant was not at home when the theft took place. The Umra police have registered a case under Indian Penal Code 381 and are investigating.

House-breaking
Cash, gold and silver ornaments, polished diamonds as well as other house-hold items amounting to Rs 3.33 lakhs were reported stolen in a case of house-breaking registered in the Kapodara police station on Saturday night. Arvind Patel, a resident of Laxminarayan Society, Dharamnagar, told the Kapodara police that miscreants broke open the rear door of his house when there was no one at home and took away valuables, cash and jewellery after breaking open a cupboard. The complainant did not name any suspect and the police are investigating after registering a case under Indian Penal Code 454, 380 and 457.
