World number seven Corretja emulated compatriot Manuel Orantes, the last Spaniard to achieve an indoor triumph. He took the 1976 masters in Houston, Texas.

``I will never forget the week I had here. I had lost a final in France this year, in Paris, and this makes it even more special,'' said Corretja.

It was by no means an easy win for Corretja. Haas led 6-23-1 and appeared on course for victory when the Spaniard finally reacted.

Corretja had to save one match point and forced a deciding set by an 8-6 margin when the German hit a forehand wide.

It was the end for Haas, who lost his serve and was permitted only one more game.

Agassi holds off Kroslak for Czech title

OSTRAVA: World number six Andre Agassiwas forced to three tough sets by unseeded Slovak Jan Kroslak before emerging with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 victory for the Czech indoor title.

The 24-year-old Slovak qualifier, ranked 153rd, made Agassi work hard for most games, often frustrating the American with consistent serve-and-volleying in front of a supportive crowd.

But Agassi's trademark intensity, which has led him back into the world top 10 this year from as low as 140th, carried him to the decisive service break in the eighth game of the third set as he pocketed the $ 137,000 winner's cheque.

The Czech success locked up a spot for Agassi in the prestigious eight-man draw for the year-ending ATP World Championship in Hanover later this year.
