Rushmi rushes past Nandini

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
INDORE, Oct 27: Few spectators, only one singles match and a one-sided result. This sums up the second day's proceedings in the Bridgestone-ITF Women's Circuit tennis tournament at the Yeshwant Club today.

Second seed Rushmi Chakravarthi (India) took only 31 minutes to pack off Nandini Perumal (India) 6-0, 6-1 in the only singles match played this afternoon. On many an occasion in the first set, Nandini could not even return the powerful serves of Rushmi and was a mute spectator to the latter's strong baseline returns.

After winning the first set 6-0, Rushmi was down 15-40 in the first game of the second but succeeded in holding serve. However, for the first in the match, the 15-year-old Hyderabad-based Nandini succeeded in keeping serve and make it 1-1. But, this was the best she could have played against her WTA 901-ranked rival.

Rushmi top seed
