Kaypee knock spurs Haryana

UNA, Oct 28: An unbeaten knock of 60 by Amarjeet Kaypee and penetrating bowling by Vineet Jain (3-16) and Pardeep Jain (3-20) helped Haryana beat Himachal Pradesh by 48 runs in the North Zone Ranji Trophy one-day cricket match here today.

It was Amarjeet Kaypee who was mainly responsible for Haryana's moderate total of 150. Their six wickets fell just for 56 runs. However, Kaypee waged a single-handed battle to carry the total to 150. `Mr Extras' contributed 31 runs. Fine bowling by Rahul Panta (5-28) and Nischal Gaur (3-22) restricted Haryana's total.

Chasing 151 runs for win, Himachal were skittled out for 102 runs with skipper Rajeev Nayyar remaining not out on 48.

Delhi rout Services

NEW DELHI: Delhi today did not miss veteran Ajay Sharma, who reported at theground with a stiff neck, for their North Zone Ranji one-day game against the Services at the Kotla. The home team's younger brigade took over the mantle to carve out a comfortable 175-run victory with almost 10 overs to spare. A captain's knock of 102 (3x4, 120b, 190m) by Vijay Dahiya and another sterling all-round performance from Virender Sehwag (71: 1x6, 7x4, 62b, 82m; and 4 for 17) shut the door on Services.

Karnataka down Andhra

BANGALORE: Karnataka began their campaign on a triumphant note when they scored a 37-run victory over Andhra in the Subbaiah Pillai Trophy one-day South Zone cricket league at the KSCA Stadium here on Wednesday.

Chasing 258 runs for a win, Andhra began with a flourish but choked in the middle and managed to score only 220 with medium pacer Dodda Ganeshsigning off the victory by uprooting the stumps of tail-ender Mallikarjun Rao in the 49th over.
