MUMBAI, Oct 28: A newly married couple in Ulhasnagar was set ablaze by the girl's family members who were opposed to the marriage.Police said Pinki Dusehja (19) and Kamlesh Keshwani (28), who lived in the same housing complex and were in love, got married on Monday. The couple set up house in Paroni society, Ulhasnagar.
However, Pinki's parents disapproved of her decision to tie the knot with Kamlesh, who earned his living by selling pav bhaji.
At around 5.30 pm today, Pinki's mother and three brothers dragged the couple out of their house, poured kerosene and set them ablaze. The two have been admitted to the Central Hospital in Ulhasnagar with 50 per cent burns.
Police have arrested the girl's mother and her two brothers, Rajesh and Anil. Rajesh, who also sustained burns trying to set his sister and brother-in-law afire, has been admitted to Central Hospital.
Pinki's third brother has so far evaded the police dragnet and police have launched a hunt for him.
