Sira continues to be tense

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA
SIRA, Oct 29: The situation in Sira continued to be tense after yesterday's violent incidents and police firing in which six people including a police inspector were killed. However, no fresh incident was reported today.

Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) T Madiyal is camping in the town along with higher officials to oversee the situation.

However, the situation was tense in and around the inspection bungalow, where former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda met local leaders and farmers.

Gowda was accompanied by State Labour Minister Satyanarayana. Three more State Ministers joined him in Sira.

Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC continued to be in force in and around the township. Educational institutions remained closed.
