VADODARA, Oct 29: Deputy executive engineer of Express Highway Ramgopal Nanulal Rajak was caught redhanded by the Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths on Tuesday accepting a bribe of Rs 200 from a vendor, who used to operate from Express Highway roadsides at Dumad crossing near Savli junction.According to ACB sources, the engineer had asked the father of the complainant Umedsinh Sharatsinh Vaghela of Dumad to pay Rs 200 per month as hafta if they wanted to run their business, else their larri would be bulldozed.
They, however, met ACB director M S Kara through one of their relations who then laid a trap. Police inspectors Rakesh Sharma and B P Kanani caught hold of the engineer as soon as he received the money from the vendor at his residence in Radha Nagar society on the New Sama Road on Tuesday evening. The engineer has been sent to jail.
