Jha, Sayal bow out

NEW DELHI, October 30: Top seed Ajay Jha of FCI and second seed Rubal Sayal were aliminated in the men's singles pre-quarter finals of Surjit Kaur memorial table tennis tournament at Talkatora Stadium here today. Sanjay Khurana upset Jha 23-21, 12-21, 21-17, while Sayal gave a walkover to Anshu Adlakha.

Abhishek Puri of Hansraj School created a major upset in the boys semifinals when he outplayed second seed Mrinal Mondal of St xavier's School 21-16, 22-20, 21-15. Top seeded Anshu Adlakha of Manav Sthali prevailed over Nitin Mahajan 21-14, 21-10, 23-20 in another semi-final. Pratima Sayal of Hansraj School won a double crown by defeating Divya Jairam 21-15, 21-9 in sub-junior girls final and Esha Bhambri 21-9, 21-11, 21-12 in the girls final. Apna Bhalla won the cadet girls title by defeating V. Malini 19-21, 21-15, 21-9. Aditya Puri won the cadet boys title defeating Kunal Puri 21-12, 21-12.

Cadet boys (final): Aditya Puri bt Kunal Puri 21-12, 21-12.
Sub-junior girls (final): Pratima Sayal bt Divya Jairam 21-15, 21-9.
Boys singles (semi-finals): Ansh Adlakha bt Nitin Mahajan 21-14, 21-10, 22-20; Abhishek Puri bt Mrinal Mondal 21-16, 23-20, 21-15.
Men's singles (pre-quarter finals): Harsh Chopra bt Sanjay Vashist 21-19, 21-11; Sanjay Khurana bt Ajay Jha 23-21, 12-21, 21-17; Harshdeep Singh Kohli bt Vijit Bedi 21-10, 21-13; Gaurav bt.
