Russia may get meat, foodgrain aid from US
AGENCIES
MOSCOW, Oct 31: A US delegation is currently negotiating with Moscow the terms of delivery on Russia's SOS urging it to send two to three million tonnes of foodgrains and a million tonne of meat for its emergency needs. The Russian media broke this news but with a pinch of sceptism, that the deal might be seeped in with `unwarranted' terms. Novoye Izvestia said, warming Iran-Russia ties could be the first casualty, especially the nuclear power deal with it. However experts deny the Russian media fears as unfounded on the ground that the farm lobby in US is strong enough to resist any encroachment on its export obligations. And for this reason the US has been forced to keep farm products out of its sanctions sanctorum, though Washington has been shrewd enough to camouflage it as `human consideration'.
