The outlawed People's War Group (PWG) also threatened ``disciplinary action'' if its guerrillas continue to have illicit sex, it was reported. ``It is irresponsible and anarchic for any comrade to have illicit relations,'' an internal PWG document was quoted as saying, warning erring members with expulsion.

The PWG, which wields a strong influence in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, said ``illicit relationships'' had become a serious problem in the group which has some 1,000 armed cadres. It said many members indulged in sex at party hideouts.

``Love at first sight,'' it added, ``was unscientific because it was based on emotion, and the (party) leadership has to endeavour to stop or delay marriages caused by such emotions.''

The PWG said, ``Marriages between two revolutionaries should not be an individualor personal matter but a political relationship.''
