NEW DELHI, OCT 31: Forty nominations were filed today on the second day of filing papers for the November 25 Assembly polls in four states with major political parties yet to announce their contestants.
24 nominations were received in MP, 12 in Rajasthan and four in Delhi today taking the number of aspirants entering the fray to 86. All those who filed papers in the Capital were Independents, the election department said.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh announced he would contest from Raghogarh in Guna district instead of Chachoda which he now represents in the Assembly.
``Raghogarh is my ancestral home and I will contest from there and not from Chachoda,'' he said.
Top leaders of BJP and Congress, major contenders for power in Rajasthan, MP and Delhi, were making last-minute efforts to finalise the candidates for the polls, the first test of popularity for the Vajpayee government.
