According to D B Marg police, the victim, Khushboo Shah, was on her way home with her parents after having had a morning walk at Marine Drive. At around 7.45 am, her parents started walking in the direction of Amit Juice Centre at V P Road, and when they reached there, they found Khushboo untraceable.

When they looked behind, they saw that a big crowd had gathered at the Opera House-V P Road junction. On approaching the spot, they found Khushboo lying on the road, bleeding with head injuries. Passers-by informed Khushboo's parents that she had been knocked down by a speeding truck.

Khushboo was rushed to the nearby Harkisondas Hospital, but was declared dead by the doctors. The driver of the truck, Vinay Sadashiv Sawant, has been arrested.
