VADODARA, Nov 1: The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited contributed Rs 105 lakhs towards the Relief Funds of Prime Minister and the Chief Ministers of Assam, Gujarat, UP and West Bengal during the current financial year.B C Bora, CMD, ONGC, presented a cheque of Rs 25 lakhs to V K Ramamurthy, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas towards the Prime Minister's Relief Fund. Employees posted in Gujarat, Assam and Dehradun also contributed their one-day salary towards the relief activities.
Besides, Rs 3.75 crores were also contributed as part of ONGC's ongoing and socio-economic development programmes during the year 1997-98. ONGC also paid 25 per cent dividend on its share capital of Rs 425.92 crores, besides paying Rs 342.66 crores to the ministry of petroleum and natural gas as its dividend.
Leaflet: ONGC's regional safety and environment management, Vadodara in an effort to create and improve environment awareness among ONGC employees, brought out a leaflet on `Climactic Changes' recently. It provides information on green house effect, carbon dioxide emission, sulphur dioxide emission, hydrological impact and crop productivity.
Institute shifted: In a bid to revamp the facilities at ONGC's Staff Training Institute in Ahmedabad, the institute had been shifted to Central School building at Chandkheda, Ahmedabad. The institute has also started extending Mining Vocational Training (MVT) to different business groups and to the employees of private sector in a bid to commercialise its operations. MVT has been imparted to participants of M/S Shivani Engineering and M/S John Equipment. At present 30 batches are being trained at the institute.
Garba contest: ONGC, Vadodara sponsored the Tarsali Sharad Nagar Ladies' Association for participating in the garba contest organised by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation. The association trains and sponsors a girls team every year for the district and state-level championships. This year they won the first prize in the garba contest organised by the VMC.
Training programme: A four-day training programme on `Stress Management Through Yoga' was organised by ONGC's Regional Training Institute for Management Development in Ambaji recently. A B Trivedi, deputy collector, (temple) Ambaji inaugurated the programme at Savita Govind Sadan.
