CHANDIGARH, Nov 4: Fine half-century by Naiyani (54) and deadly spell by Sapna (5 for 23) helped MCM DAV-36 score a convincing 81-run victory over Government College for Girls-11, to win the third position in the Punjab University Inter-College women's cricket tournament at PU Campus today. The final will be played tomorrow between PU Campus and Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana.In the match today, GCG-11 won the toss and elected to field. MCM batswomen piled up a huge total of 215 runs in 48 overs. Naiyani hit the rival bowlers all over the field and scored 54 runs. She was ably supported by Kamini (26), Seema (24) and Shalini (22).
Nimmi took five wickets while Shalu and Asha got two wickets each for GCG-11.
Chasing the total, GCG-11 were back to the pavilion in the 39th over for a paltry score of 134 runs. Shalu (36) and Monika (20) were the main scorers for GCG-11. Sapna scalped five wickets while Seema took three.
